Venkatappa art gallery is open to public from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and it is closed on Wednesday. Entry fee is also charged for the visitors. K. Venkatappa is a talent artist born in the year 1887. He was born in the family of court painters. He was famous painter in the late 19th century ad some of his magnificent works includes stunning view of Ooty Lake, Nilgiri Mountains, Kodaikanal, Church-Hill Ooty and Sunrise at Ooty.
About the gallery
The Gallery contains interesting collection of about 600 paintings created by different talent pools. Huge collection is displayed in two floors in this building. On the ground floor of the gallery you would see some beautiful paintings by Venkatappa. His magnificent works will really give a feeling to the viewer as if they are in that location.
The first floor of the gallery displays the artistic work of the eminent painters such as Rekha Rao, Hanumaiah, Hariram, M. F. Hussain, Yusuf Arakkal, Vasudev, N. S. Bendre and other artworks of some world renowned painters. Apart from this wooden carvings of the C.P. Rajaram are also found in the first floor.
On the second floor visitor can find some of the works of the K.K Hebbar. Some of his painting includes Jala (water), Prithivi (earth), Vayu (wind), Agni (fire), Nagamandala, Sea Shore and death, which were his popular themes.
